Weekday, 12:30 p.m., I brought in two items to sell, jeans & running shoes. Both brand name. I was told it would be a half hour wait to collect payment. Browsed the racks. Selection in my opinion was poor. Heavily-used, inexpensive (Old Navy, H&M, etc.) After half an hour, I returned to the female worker who received my two items. She told me "Another 10 minutes. Tops." I continued looking around and went back to see her. She walked past me looking straight ahead, saying nothing, holding a cold drink. I approached a second female employee who was one of two standing behind the sales counter not doing much. I asked this worker if her colleague, the one who received my items and who had just disappeared into the back of the store holding a drink, if this employee was now on break? She said "I dunno. Maybe." I said that her colleague told me ten minutes ago, in "Another ten minutes, tops", I could collect payment for my two items. The second employee said to me "We're busy. The phone rings. You have to wait ten more minutes. You're next." Then, right away, she picked up the bag holding my two items, assessed them, blankly handed me $14.25 & said nothing. I mean, why should she thank m

Rating: 1/5 StarsReview:This place is ridiculous. I brought in two bags of brand-new, name-brand clothes—most of them still had the original tags on them—and they refused to take a single item. Yet, when I walked around the store to shop, the racks were full of outdated clothes covered in visible stains and holes. The staff is entirely too young to be working there or making decisions on inventory. Total waste of time.

This place sucks they never give you enough money for anything they are also rude with the attitude.. I've brought the best of the best things they always find excuses not to buy all my stuff looks better than the real they sell there and I dress better than all the employees there too .I'm classy so I'm just letting you all know this store stinks literally like a hamper... thank u

Every time I go into Plato's Closet, there's some new rule or stipulation for why they can't take my clothes. The first time, I was told they don't accept clothes brought in trash bags—which is frustrating because how else are people realistically supposed to transport a large amount of clothing?
The second time, I was turned away because they "stop taking clothes at 5:00," even though they don't close until 7:00 and the store was not busy at all. That policy makes no sense from a customer's perspective and feels more like an excuse than a real limitation.
On top of that, when they do take items, the payout is insulting. I've brought in newer clothes—less than a year old, in good condition—and was offered next to nothing. For a store that resells items at much higher prices, it feels like a complete waste of time.
Honestly, the quality of clothes on the racks doesn't even reflect how picky they are when buying. Between the inconsistent rules and extremely low offers, this place feels like a scam rather than a reliable resale shop. I won't be returning.

Store is a joke don’t bring new clothes it’s an insult what they try to give you . Won’t be going back anytime soon .

I left my number to contact me and they find it hesitated because I am Deaf but hey they forgot that we have new technology with device though a translator I had to keep guessing is it ready for me to pick up the price that I sold I don’t care only $7.20 but they got to use their common sense to use dial my phone number! Their communication skills is fxCked up!

I had brand new, name brand shoes and clothing and accessories...some was perhaps out of style but at least half was very much in style and they bought nothing. It was even well sorted and folded. The staff had a very flat affect and my take away was that I understand why the store wasn't busy. I think it's laughable that they asked if I'd like to donate my items in the same breath that they said they didn't want to purchase it.

They where rude I didn’t know they didn’t take brand new underwear that had tags on it still went through it took out two pairs of shoes and said said I’ll give you 14.50 for them but put the shoes back in the box so I took my stuff back

As a shopper they have great deals. As a seller dont waste your time.

I visited Roswell Platos closet store recently and was disappointed by the poor customer service. The employee I interacted with was surly and seemed uninterested in assisting me. My first time visiting so my clothes were not in a bag. The girl behind the counter didnt give me a break. I asked if she had an extra bag and she said no. I didn’t receive any real guidance or support, just repeating bring the clothes back in a bag. It’s a shame because the store itself had a lot of potential, but the lack of helpfulness left a bad impression. Would not recommend based on this experience.

Always a bad experience when I go there. Employees are clueless and the store looks cluttered with junk and smells like the crap they're trying to sell. They're list of accepted items is useless and their claim to have the latest trends is a lie. Don't waste your time going. I'll never step foot back in that mess of a store.

I brought some brand new A&F pants to sell and they offered a measly, RIDONCULOUS $7 and change per pair. Don't waste your time trying to sell to them, you will get insulted by their offer.

I'd rather donate my clothes to charity than spend an hour waiting for them to offer 5.00 for 2 containers of newish to brand new name brand clothes/shoes. Most of the items they sell are not nearly as good condition as what I was offering them. Waste of time, gas and energy!

The assistant helping me told she'd just need 20 mins to sort out clothes that they're looking for and made me wait very long. I don't believe she even went through my stuff and just gave some excuse that it's based on wear and tear conditions etc, many of my dresses were brand new and name brands! Extremely disappointing experience over all.

I was told it was out dated there was nothing older than 6 months of this year. I notice you have very staff that clearly doesn't know fahion this was the second time this happened w. While waiting I looked thru the store what i had was more uo todate than what you all had and way more Expensive Bands.

I came into your store to sell clothing. I saw you had purses 70%off. I grabbed two from the second each where it has 70%off. I was told those were not on sale they were the ones by the front door. Your cashier Bella was rude nasty and unprofessional! False advertisement! I will never come back here and I will be telling everyone I know family, friends about this and they will never come here again! Unbelievable! Fix your false advertisement! I will most definitely refer my fam and friends to encore!

On August 20th 2024 my son and his girlfriend went into Plato's closet in Vestal to return some clothes trade in some clothes. Sorry. Upon getting there and walking in they were told at the counter they were not taking no clothes at this time within not even 5 minutes someone else comes in and they take his clothes. But they refused my sons and his girlfriends. I don't know if this cuz they don't want to do their job or they're playing favoritisms towards college students. Whether you're busy or not, you should at least give a clear picture of when you will be able to accept the clothes or to explain why you took one person's clothes after they came in 5 minutes later. Not even and why you refused to take their clothes. They're rude. Inconsiderate and don't think anything of it. I don't even rate you one star. But apparently I have to rate one star in order to post this. But I give you a ZERO

Went to sell clothes, won't ever do it again, or shop. Snobby fake eyelash little girls deciding what clothes to buy or not. Looking at the way they are dressed is not cute at all. If they are basing it off of that, then they need to change. Basically, the store is for teenagers or little girls. They told me my clothes, all with tags where outdated and mature. When you got mature women shopping at your facility. Just saying, the close they had on the racks especially t-shirts were seriously raggedy and stained. I recommend having a multi-cultural staff, not a staff of one color, also a bit more mature.

This place doesn't take anything…. And I mean that they take ugly and unsellable clothes but don't take clothes that will sell. I know a lot of the clothing that other individuals and myself have given Plato's that we wore in high school. Which is the type of clothing they want… and they say it won't sell. But I saw a neon green leather body suit… that 100% won't sell and they're trying too! They tend to do this a lot. Yikes.

We had a bad experience with the staff at Plato's closet in Windsor. We brought in five boxes, they only took one. Apparently they were over stocked. Well, I understand that may be the case. It was the tone that we were given and the attitude from the staff that was obtuse That will ensure that I will never ever go there again I have gone through the reviews-More than 100-And it seems as though a lot of people complain about the staff so perhaps the owners/corporate should look into this.

Twice I have went in with 2 to 3 bags of clothes, some that I purchased from there, but I was told 5 minutes later that they were looking for teenage clothes. College students are adults. Why can't older adults like the same style? Why do you sell clothes that everyone can buy but don't except something if the customer looks old? I watch the same thing happen to the woman in front of me.

Some clothes have stains and I did see some with holes. This is a lot of worn out stuff. Won't be back. Longview Texas store.

After waiting over an hour I was told my close which was sundress etc. was to mature for their store however there were similar ones but mines came from Dillards and Macy's with most of the tags. How ignorant can they be? They were not old folk style clothing but they were well made.

Plato's closet is a place my daughter loves going to, in either Tucson or Vegas when we've visited. I took some of her things in to sell after seeing the items they take and I took 15 items and they said they could use 4, and said it was what they thought their customers would like. The four items they kept, were a sweater used once and in great condition, as my daughter just changed her mind. The other three items were denim shorts, all new with tags on them ($10.99, $12.00 and $14.99) from Burlington. We passed the return date after they didn't fit the way my daughter wanted and it's been sitting in a bag since. The offer for all 4 was $11 and cents. I thanked the nice young lady and said my daughter could sell it in our town yard sale for more or even gift them to friends and feel better about it. She will never wear the sweater so we took the $2.83 and gave it to our 9 year son who was elated. Anyway, I'm not sure how Plato's Closet determines what to price their things, but an average of less than $3 per shorts just seemed crazy.

Don't ever go here. Short ball you on everything, you could bring them a Gucci belt worth $900 and they will give you $10 bucks lol and that's the honest to god truth. Terrible service too! Young arrogant judgmental women that only buy what they will wear. Rude as well, have you wait all day to the point where u have to walk in and they tell you that your clothes are ready. PS ( they don't tell you your clothes are ready because they want you to leave them there till close, and then keep all your items, so you can't get no money back, only store credit if you don't pick up before close. SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN. They don't know good items even with a price tag on it, and I brought them plenty with tags, never worn. This low down dirty store won't ever get business with me again.

I had a wonderful experience shopping at Plato's. The space was clean, organized, and inviting. Most of all the team was great. More specifically, the one worker, Glory, was very friendly and helpful. She helped me find what I was looking, opened the fitting room, and checked me out. She even gave my son a sticker, which made his day. 5 stars all the way!

It's not fancy, but you shouldn't expect fancy. It's clean and most importantly, it has a ton to choose from. If you don't see what you need, come back in 2 weeks for a whole new store.
